Agility, Balance, Coordination Evening Wednesday 13th January 2016

Special guests on Wednesday 13th January 2016..................

I feel that in the world we live in now compared to years gone by kids no longer play down the park, the 15 aside games we used to play as kids with nine year olds battling for the ball against the “big kids” are long gone. The days of climbing trees and getting up to all sorts of things which tested our Agility, Balance and Coordination skills in a natural way are a distant memory. These are physical skills that we need not just for football or goalkeeping specifically they are important life skills that we have a duty to encourage in the youth of today.

With this in mind on Wednesday 13th January 2016 I am pleased to announce that I have managed to secure the services for the evening of Tom Huelin and Tom Holmes who both work full time in the Academy at Swindon Town FC.

Tom Huelin is the Sports Scientist whose main focus is the physical development of the Youth team and the younger academy players. Tom Holmes is the Youth Team Physiotherapist who also has great knowledge in the bio mechanics of the human body as well as treatment of injuries. Their session will be based around the movement fundamentals, which we call "ABC's"

The session will be structured as follows:

5.45pm – 6.15pm – 7-11’s with Tom Huelin & Tom Holmes working on their ABC’s

6.15pm – 6.45pm – 7-11’s with Steve Hale & coaches getting back into their goalkeeping skills

6.45pm – 7.15pm – 12-16’s with Tom Huelin & Tom Holmes working on their ABC’s

7.15pm – 7.45pm – 12-16’s with Steve Hale & coaches getting back into their goalkeeping skills

I’m sure when the two Tom’s are not working with the kids they will be available to speak to if you would like any advice or have any queries concerning movement patterns and the physical development of kids aged 7-16

Their time and knowledge is valuable so I would ask that you do everything possible to be on time for each session so that we can maximise the time we have with them both.

Below are just a few links to a website explaining briefly about the ABC’s and also some You Tube clips on the matter.
